The Association Valentin Haüy (AVH), which has been helping blind and partially-sighted people for over a century, offers a wide range of adapted products via its e-commerce site. This digital tool is essential to give people with visual impairments easy access to solutions that make their daily lives easier.
The association operates mainly in the BtoC sector, and has made e-commerce a key strategic focus to reach its users directly.
However, accessibility was a major challenge if we were to offer an optimal experience to our audience. The results: accessibility and e-commerce performance
The redesign of the site has enabled AVH to achieve better conversion and increased visibility on search engines. Matomo data shows a significant increase in traffic and a better conversion rate thanks to optimized navigation.
An accessible BTOC Prestashop site
AVH entrusted Soledis with the complete overhaul of its Prestashop e-commerce site, with priority given to accessibility and compliance with RGAA (Référentiel Général d'Amélioration de l'Accessibilité) criteria.
The aim was to enable visually impaired users to make their purchases independently.
Soledis key events:
- Migration from Prestashop 1.6 to Prestashop 8 for a more modern, high-performance environment.
- Graphic and ergonomic redesign carried out in-house, taking into account accessibility requirements.
- Interfacing with Sage ERP for optimized inventory and order management.
- Improved accessibility by integrating the recommendations of Ideance, a firm specializing in accessibility audits.
- SEO optimization and performance tracking with Matomo.

AVH is continuing its partnership with Soledis to provide run support with regular follow-up.
The collaboration continues to go even further in terms of accessibility and optimization of the user experience, confirming AVH as a benchmark in inclusive e-commerce.
The accessibility audit carried out by Ideance confirmed the quality of the work carried out, making AVH one of the rare sites to achieve this level of accessibility according to RG2A criteria.
