If Mobile First is the topic for 2016-2018, the voice search is 2018-2020!

Google is currently testing new "speakable" beacons which, in a news item, can be used to indicate whether or not passages can be read aloud by Artificial Intelligences. These include smartphones, of course, but also connected objects such as speakers. Amazon's Echo and Google's Home assistant, to name but a few, are part of a fast-growing market that could eventually have an impact on e-commerce.

As is often the case, surveys on the use of voice search are based in the USA and on the use of certain media only. In France, it is possible to track certain queries on Google Trend to see that the voice requests are steadily increasinglike the one reported by Le Journal du Net on voice search.

Monoprix and more recently Carrefour have forged partnerships with Amazon and Google for position their product catalogs on connected speakers. In SEO, voice queries are phrases, implying the use of an work on the long tail and anticipate phrases/queries that don't necessarily exist yet.

Voice search seems to be used in specific cases, such as in the kitchenwhile watching TV, or even while travel. Initially, not all content will be affected by this operating mode.
