You've probably noticed, A few days ago, Facebook launched a test on the visibility of companies' organic posts via new feeds.. There's been a lot of reaction to Facebook's announcement of a new way of discovering and following corporate posts.

Facebook says it takes into account the various feedbacks from its users, who prefer to see the news and activities of their loved ones on their feeds. In response, the social network has set up a test in 6 countries: 2 news feeds are available, one for "friends" and the other for organic publications by Brand Pages.

This test lead should not be confused with Explore leadFaecbook has already launched a new service on the network, which brings together a range of publications selected by Faecbook according to the user's areas of interest.

Le site arobasenet offers a translation of the press release from Facebook

"It is also important to know that che test in these 6 countries is different from the Fil Explorer version deployed in most people's homes. Outside countries, the Explorer Feed is a complementary feed of popular articles, videos and photos automatically personalized for each person based on the content that might be of interest to them.
We've heard people say they want an easy way to discover relevant content from Pages they're not yet connected with. While the Explorer Feed includes relevant content from Pages, posts from Pages that people like or follow will continue to appear in the News Feed."

With the exception of these 6 countries, the organic publications of pages already followed continue to appear in news feeds.

However, a number of points are worth noting;

  • The test is limited to 6 countries...for the moment.. If successful, it could be extended to the entire network.
  • While organic publications are removed from the News Feed, this is not the case for paid publications. In the test version, these will be the only way for brands to appear on people's news feeds.
  • This development shows that it is in the interest of all companies, both publishers and e-commerce companies, to not relying on a single network for promotion. Diversify your sources of acquisition is still relevant today, and is becoming increasingly pressing for some brands.
