Comptoir des Industries Françaises is a distributor in the world of Art and Decoration for the home with a differentiating bias that's very trendy these days: "made in France". The Nantes-based company approached Soledis in 2018 to migrate to Prestashop 1.7.
3 websites for 3 different targets and a showroom in Nantes
Comptoir des Industries Françaises is an excellent example of a multi-channel sales strategy. The company has referenced around a hundred French suppliers renowned for the quality of their historic know-how and the beauty of their products. The 10,000 or so product references this represents are of interest to individuals, professionals in the Cafés-Hotels-Restaurants (CHR) sector, and foreigners looking for the "French Touch", French know-how recognized the world over. To address these 3 targets, the company has chosen to develop 3 different websites. www.coin-fr.com is aimed at individuals, www.comptoirdesindustries.com is aimed at professionals in the CHR sector, and the www.francecorner.com is an English-language site for the international target. These 3 sites are managed from a single Prestashop interface. This is the advantage of multi-boutique and multilingualism, two possible options for the development of e-Commerce sites using Prestashop. Prestashop.
To complement this online activity, Le Comptoir des Industries Françaises opened a showroom near Nantes in September 2018. Soledis has been a partner of this beautiful Made In France adventure since the same year 2018.
Comptoir des Industries Françaises was Soledis' first Prestashop 1.7 customer! It was a trial by fire for project manager Jean-François, who still remembers the experience:
"I was both impatient and stressed about the project. We knew we were going to lose hours of development time because of the Symfony framework, which wasn't part of our working habits. But we didn't want to blame the customer, and instead considered it as R&D. We also had to ensure a good flow of information between all the team members who would be working on this project, so that we could learn collectively from this first use of Prestashop 1.7. The Comptoir des Industries Française project was really going to pull Soledis up by confirming its still somewhat theoretical expertise in Prestashop 1.7."
Jean-François, Soledis Project Manager

Soledis' mission: migrate to Prestashop 1.7
Prestashop version 1.7 was released at the end of 2016. Like many agencies, Soledis waited some time before proposing the migration to its customers, to avoid the adjustment phase required when a new framework is released. As part of the Prestashop Platinum partnership, Soledis teams also took the time to be trained and test this new version to be able to guarantee quality results to their customers.
Guaranteed service continuity
The most important aspect of an eCommerce site redesign is continuity of service in both the front and back offices. The customer chose to reuse the theme already in use on Prestashop 1.5, and we simply provided graphic integration. Similarly, as with every website redesign, we ensured complete data recovery, so as not to miss an order or distort sales analysis metrics.
Today, Soledis continues to support Comptoir des Industries Françaises with occasional website upgrades and, more broadly, with eCommerce consulting: management optimization, business intelligence, webmarketing...
